Edith is inspired by Edith Clarke, the famous engineer. Edith Clarke was born on February 10, 1883 in Howard County, Maryland. She was the first woman to be employed professionally as an electrical engineer in the United States, and she was also the first female professor of electrical engineering in the United States. Edith Clarke was also the first woman to be named as a Fellow of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. She filed the patent for the calculator in 1921, and she was granted this patent in 1925. Her accomplishments in engineering are in great number. Edith Clarke was a very brilliant lady!
