Flora is a navy wool fedora with gold horse bit trim. The ribbon is in the style of the McKenzie tartan.
Flora was inspired by Flora McDonald, a Scot who dressed Bonnie Prince Charlie as a woman after the battle of Culloden when he fled the British. She risked her safety to protect Prince Charlie from the Duke of Cumberland’s brutal forces.
Flora McDonald and the Prince crossed from the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Skye. He later sailed for France. After the British found out about her role in the escape, she was imprisoned in the Tower of London. Later she married and moved to North Carolina (like many Scots did). She went back to Scotland in the end and is buried at Kilmuir.
Hand Blocked.
Hats under $300 do not ship with a hat box, however, should you like to purchase one, please contact us.
