Harriet is inspired by the famous abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman, born in slavery but escaped. She rescued an estimated 70 people from slavery via the Underground Railroad. She was also an advocate for the women’s suffrage movement. Harriet Tubman’s work has been memorialized and honored in various museums, books, and other media. Tubman was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1973. What a courageous and inspirational woman Harriet Tubman was!
